A collection of stories about transgender people I found in old supermarket tabloids- the stories were more affirming and positive than I ever thought they'd be and it felt important for me to save these stories of our elders- especially now that most mainstream media coverage is so negative and hateful.

Remember the tantalizing mystery of supermarket tabloids? Sensational, disposable, promising a world of salacious secrets at the supermarket check-out for the price of a candy bar. In the late 90s/early 2000s, these magazines were dishing up the stories of real trans people to the everyday American public. Daisy Thursday is a lifelong lover of the tabloid and has been collecting and archiving these stories for the last two years.

It’s our great honor at Shapeless Press to be debuting highlights from Daisy’s collection in zine form, prefaced by her original essay and bookended with an experiment in autofiction, tabloid-style, by our editor, Glen Rodman.
