Jessie Sommers is the Philly artist behind DarkLadyArt. Growing up in South Jersey, Jessie was raised to love Halloween and all things spooky. She often wondered why people didn’t send out Halloween cards like they did at Christmas time. Bothered by this, she started her own tradition of sending Halloween cards to family and friends each October. Since 2020 she has been hand-drawing her own Halloween designs (typically of female Halloween icons) and debuting a new card each year. She has now made these designs open for all to share and encourages the normalization of sending Halloween greetings. However, these cards can be used all year long for any occasion as they are blank inside! There’s never a bad time to send a little goth-y greeting to someone you love.
