Consonant Collective

Consonant is an arts collective based in Philadelphia that runs a record label and a micro-press. Its founding members are Katie and Joe, a married couple, and we frequently collaborate with friends and co-conspirators in the U.S. and abroad. We aim to put out high-quality DIY releases that maintain a feeling of fun and whimsy.

Our publications are designed and printed in our home studio using a large format inkjet printer and a risograph machine.

We release albums on vinyl by a small roster of artists, as well as a rotating cast of new artists we like. Our releases have featured not only music, but also poetry and other literary readings, field recordings, bootleg VHS soundtracks, and other obscurities that were never intended to be put on a record.
